Explain the OM standard of multi-mode 10 Gigabit optical fiber jumper
column:application cases Release time:2022-10-06

Multi-mode 10 Gigabit fiber optic jumpers have several standards such as OM1, OM2, OM3 and OM4, and are widely used in 10 Gigabit fiber optic network systems. Let’s take a closer look at the rules below.

OM1, OM2, OM3 and OM4

Multimode 10 Gigabit fiber optic jumper OM standard:

The core diameter of OM1 10 Gigabit multimode fiber is 62.5 μm. In the transmission wavelength of 850nm, the bandwidth is 200MHZ. In the transmission wavelength of 1300nm, the bandwidth is only 500MHZ, which cannot really achieve 10G transmission.

In the standards from OM2 onwards, the core diameter of multimode fiber is 50μm. Taking OM3 as an example, the transmission wavelength bandwidth of 850nm can reach 2000MHZ.

OM4 is the same as OM3, in the 850nm wavelength 10G/S network, the transmission distance of OM3 and OM4 can reach 300M and 550M respectively.

OM4 is the standard with the longest transmission distance in the 10 Gigabit network system. In a sense, OM4 is the standard and upgraded version of OM3 multimode optical fiber.

After reading the above content, you should understand the OM standard for multi-mode 10G light effect jumpers, right? Huijue Network provides various fiber optic jumpers, please contact sales@hj-net.com for product order.
