To identify the quality of a copper cable jumper, it is enough to look at these four aspects, and analyze it from the four points of the jumper wire, crystal head, glue filling, and testing:

 

  1. Jumper wire

 

Copper cable jumper, also known as copper cable jumper cord, is a bridge connecting equipment and panels in the work area, equipment and distribution frames in the computer room, and equipment and equipment. Due to different uses, the wire material of the jumper is also different from that of the wiring copper cable. The core wire of the jumper is multi-strand pure copper wire, that is, each core wire is twisted by 7 small filaments. Pay attention to the following points in terms of jumper wires:

 

  1. The purity of the core wire conductor: the core wire conductor should use 4N oxygen-free copper. The poor quality jumper core conductors use copper-clad aluminum, copper-clad steel, copper-clad iron, or even aluminum-magnesium wire, which is not allowed by the standard and will cause a decline in transmission quality. The cost of iron and iron is far lower than that of pure copper, so unscrupulous manufacturers have adopted this approach.

 

  1. Quality of PE material for core wire insulation: High-quality HDPE material must be used for core wire insulation layer PE. ① Crimping with crimping pliers will cause the 8PIN reed of the crystal head to fail to reach the size and depth specified by the national standard due to uneven force, which will cause the jumper to damage the device port.

 

②Crimping with wire crimping pliers may cause poor contact between the 8PIN reed and the cable conductor. After inserting the device, the link will be blocked or the signal transmission will be unstable. Increase the difficulty of post-operation and maintenance.

 

③Because the core wire conductor of the self-made jumper is a single core wire, the flexibility is far worse than the multi-strand core wire of the original factory-produced jumper wire. As time goes by, the single-core copper wire may break the core wire.

 

  1. Crystal head material

 

There are three points to pay attention to in terms of crystal head material:

 

  1. The gold-plated thickness of the crystal head. In the IEC 60603 RJ45 plug-in standard, the gold-plated thickness needs to reach 50μ” gold, and the number of plugging and unplugging needs to reach more than 750 times. However, many manufacturers feel that consumers do not understand it, so they do not follow the standard. The difference between a thin layer of floating gold plating is very large. Gold is the best conductor, and the effect of plating gold on the reed is the same, and the crystal head needs to be plugged in and out continuously, which will The gold-plated layer worn on the reed, once the gold-plated layer is too thin, such as a gold-plated crystal head, the gold-plated layer will be worn out after a few times of plugging and unplugging, which will greatly reduce the performance of link transmission. Some manufacturers say that their crystal head is the best, but they dare not say how much μ” gold is plated on the crystal head.   1. We need to look at the appearance of the crystal head. If the color is dull and not smooth, it means that the glue used in the crystal head is poor material, or even recycled. And a good crystal head, made of PC material, has a transparent and smooth appearance, and a good rubber material has a small thermal expansion and contraction coefficient, which can adapt to complex and changeable environments.

 

  1. The shrapnel of the crystal head is also stipulated in the IEC 60603 RJ45 plug-in standard. The shrapnel for locking the RJ45 crystal head and the socket needs to have certain toughness. If the shrapnel is moved forward to 90 degrees, the shrapnel will not break. , and will return to its original shape, and the elasticity will not change, and the number of bends can be no less than 15 times.

 

  1. The original factory needs to use “Little King Kong” to crimp the crystal head to ensure that the matching size of the crystal head is accurately controlled. Guide the assembled crystal head reed upwards into the small King Kong, so that the punch head will position and crimp the reed. According to the standard FCC Part 68 and GB/T 17535, the stamping depth should be controlled between 5.89~6.15mm for precise stamping.

 

  1. Injection molding

 

Jumper wire injection molding is a very strict process, which directly affects the performance and durability of the jumper wire. After injection molding, the connection adhesion between the wire material and the crystal head of the jumper wire is greatly increased, ensuring that there will be no problems in repeated use. The self-made jumper wires generally do not undergo injection molding. The problem is obvious. After repeated plugging and unplugging, it is easy to fall off between the crystal head and the wire or the wire core is broken.

 

  1. Fluke jumper unit test
